All Bar One is essentially a play about relationships. Old and new. Lost and found. Real and insincere. One bar serves them all – or does it?
There’s a barmaid, Lucy, who’s never quite sure what’s going on. There’s Bob, a guest who ALWAYS seems to know what’s going on – but why is he so interested?
Then there’s the lesbian lover of a married woman and a high class call girl, both of whom would rather be somewhere else.
And not forgetting Lady Winston. Sitting in the Gainford Park Hotel is preferred to sitting at home all alone, and some nights are more entertaining than others.
This is definitely such a night!
The play takes place in a busy, country house hotel. Numerous guests walk the halls between the various function rooms, some seeking peace, some wanting to pause for thought, others seemingly avoiding the company they keep.
But what connects these people? As the play goes on, it seems they have more in common than we may have first thought, and those we thought were genuine and friendly, may appear less so. You get to decide.
There are adult themes in the play, but providing you’re of a suitable age, you are allowed to laugh. These are the things some people talk about when they’re not sure who’s listening.
